Assassination Cove Retreat

Awesome Assassination Cove Bach aka Te Hue Bay, Russell. Gorgeous beach and bush setting for those family holiday getaways.

Located on the beach and off the beaten track, about 20 minutes drive east from Russell in the Bay of Islands. Just 1.5 kilometres from Jacks Bay and 5kilometres from Parekura Bay.

Assassination Cove Retreat (Te Hue Bay) is approximately 3.5hrs drive north from Auckland.

It offers relaxed open-plan indoor/outdoor living - complete with log-fire in the lounge for the cooler times of the year. It is such a getaway retreat that it is only accessible by small boat. This is provided with the house to enable you to make the short trip across the bay from the carpark.

Upstairs: the lounge and dining area, with a double bedroom and the two single couches in the lounge.

Funky bathroom with wet-room monsoon shower. Extra toilets located outside.

Downstairs: 2 doubles and a single bed, with a sink and an extra fridge freezer.

•Anchor your boat off the beach (deep-water mooring available on request)

•Great access to fishing and diving spots.

•2 Kayaks and a dinghy with life-jackets are available for exploring the bays

•A short 3 min walk over the hill to panoramic views across the bay to Urupukapuka Island. Gorgeous beach for a picnic.

The house is central to the entire BOI, and therefore provided the perfect Bay of Islands base for us - three NZ sisters and husbands - along with the mooring, which proved to be indispensible. We had the luxury of two boats, one a yacht and the other a fishing launch, and so made our days in the BOI full of exploration from Cape Brett to Tikitiki Island, and even ventured up into Kerikeri as far as the old store!

The house is perfectly appointed on the main level, with deck, living area, dining and kitchen great for enjoying all that beautiful cove has to offer (cockle chowder being at the top of the list, pipis next!). The downstairs dormitory is great for a large family or another couple as well. And the rain shower is a major luxury, especially after a day of fishing and swimming nearby!

We swam daily over the reserve on the north-facing beach, and enjoyed conversations with some of your neighbors as well as the horse in the paddock and the two dogs in the A Frame!

Thank you for allowing us to use it. It was easily the best part of our seven weeks in NZ.
